11 years back...
They were high school sweethearts.
6 years back...
Everyone in college knew their love story. Inseparable was the word one would use to describe them, for what they had between them was something amazing. It was as if they had created their own world that no one else could enter. In that world, they would walk everywhere holding hands, try out new cuisines, risk their lives at adventure spots, travel and explore the lonely spots that no one dared to enter, share a king-size popcorn over a cheesy movie, and giggle wickedly to their inside jokes that never got old. It was just them and nothing or no one else. They were a team!
2 years back...
By the time they graduated from college, they had been together for 9 years with not even a hint at taking one another for granted. Then, the ambitious she decided to spread her wings and take on the world. She wanted to give shape to her dreams of being a travel writer. To him, yes, it came as a shock because from the moment he had seen the twinkle in her eyes and heard the ring in her laugh, he had known - that he would never be able to look past her anymore. But, to keep seeing that twinkle and hearing that ring, he had to let her go. So, with a promise to love from afar, she left to chase her dreams. The temporary goodbye was heartbreaking.
2 months back...
It had been 18 months since he had seen her. The first 8 months had been hard and painful, to see each other through a screen. Every time he saw her wave a hand through the video call, all he wanted to do was hold hands and link fingers. The distance had crushed him. By the 11th month, she started disappearing more often from the relationship. Even when she was there, her face had that 'Both of us know it's not working' look. The calls had dropped, the texts had stopped and her eyes twinkled no more when she managed to skype him.
Right now...
They stood facing each other. She hung her head, not wanting to meet his eyes. If he had thought staying a 1000kms away from her was hard enough, this 5 foot distance was almost soul-wringing. Not being able to digest the gap anymore, he bridged it with 2 quick steps. As she raised her head, he searched her eyes hard for a sign of hope. But, her eyes had become marble, giving nothing away. When he looked at her lips, they had a tiny beseeching smile in place. 'The spark is long gone', they said without moving. Shaking her head slowly, she started to turn away from him.
"No!", he said softly to himself and caught her right hand. She stopped. Pulling her back, he took her hand and placed it on his chest. Then, his fingers slowly traced her velvety arm and stopped at her cheek. She shuddered and slowly, let her shoulders drop. "We are not over yet", he said in a husky voice and placed his lips on hers. With a gentle speck, he pulled back. Taking both her hands, he buried his face into them, kissed them and said tenderly, 'You will always be my sunshine'. Something broke inside her and blurred her vision with tears. Cupping his face with her palms, her lips sought his. Their world was born again, with even more passion that could burn out the sun.
This post was inspired by the #BringBackTheTouch campaign by Parachute Advansed Body Lotion, hosted through IndiBlogger.
Parachute is out with a promise to reignite the lost spark between couples who have been together too long that the excitement has gone missing. They claim that all it takes is a touch to break through the familiarity that gets created over time. While a touch can forge broken passion, a skin that is soft, smooth, well-nourished and irresistible to touch can add even more to the sensuality. Here's their latest video on bringing back the lost passion between couples.
